Today I played with one of my watercolour backgrounds and created more silhouettes in the same style as my first. Here is a collection of botanical imagery, Fronds, Phlox and Purple Coneflower.
It's been nice using Photoshop again for more than just image adjustment. I also have some plans for a sketch to be developed further in Illustrator. The perfect way to merge the hand made with my software is a zine. Something I'll think about but not rush until the right story and imagery come together.

They're lovely! I remember the portrait of your daughter done this way, too. Such a gorgeous and soft effect. Your first paragraph pretty much describes me ~ I do tend to suffer computer burnout by the weekend ~ but now I'd like to try some paint/PS silhouettes like these. Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the look of these. Such a great way to use watercolor texture. I've been flirting with the idea of putting together a zine too, and I've come up with lots of potential titles already, but not sure about content, so it's still in the "thinking it over" phase. these botanical silhouettes would be a pretty place to start one from!
ReplyDeleteWicked! I love the colors and the translucent qualities of watercolors. Also anytime hand-made is mixed with digital, it usually yields interesting results. This is no exception. Glad to hear that both you AND anika are thinking about making zines!!!!! do it, join the club :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw these beautiful photos...I thought of a design on a lovely white shopping bag...of a very high end boutique....stunning
ReplyDeleteThese are really really lovely! Love the transition of the colours and the silhouetted shapes (the ferns at the top are my favourite).
ReplyDeleteI have never tried to play with Photoshop or Illustrator or anything similar (my idea of high tech design is cutting and pasting shapes in a word document!). I'm so in awe of all of you who combine the digital and the handmade, I really wish I could dive in but I'm too scared!
