Once the tin was emptied I tried to peel the label off to use it for stamps and stickers but quickly realized it wasn't going to be an easy endeavor. The solution was to slather on some glue and stick some of my origami paper onto the label.

The best part, other than having pretty storage for my collected stamps, is the smell of lemon and mint that wafts up every time open it up.
On a slightly related side note, I looked at the list of ingredients in the tea and I have many of the plants growing in my garden. Perhaps I'll try my hand at saving leaves for tea.

There was a story on National Public Radio this morning about how yet another study has shown wine to be good for women ... strengthens bones. I want to be the model for the wine mustache and slogan "Got Wine?"
ReplyDeleteYour tea tin is charming! I have a gazillion tins in my art room, waiting for me and Mod Podge. I need about two weeks vacation to make a tiny dent in the number of projects that are stacking up down there in yonder art room!

ReplyDeleteI have been covering things in paper myself lately, so I will endeavor to share them with you very shortly! The tea tin looks so sweet and I love that it's scented. What do you keep in there now? I have chamomile growing in my garden but I am terrible at harvesting anything but my grapes and peaches. Let me know if you make your own fresh tea ~ I would love to be inspired in that direction!
ReplyDeleteThis paper reminds me of the little envelopes you make too – you really have a knack for making the ordinary so beautiful! I have two tea tins that I use for art supplies (one for sharpeners and shavings and one for my kneaded erasers). The kneaded eraser tin is already pretty lovely: a gift from my parents on a trip to China and made for holding green tea leaves, but it fits my erasers very well and keeps them clean. You've inspired me to play with the sharpener tin though! It's a metal round one similar to the ones you get at Silk Road Tea in Victoria. Thanks for the creative inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI keep stamps, threads and bits and bobs that I may use for art, crafts or mail art. On closer inspection the items in the tea are: chamomile, blackberry, lemongrass, rose petals, mint, lemon balm, hibiscus, lavender and marigold. I only have lemon balm, mint, lavender and marigold and the moment. I think I'll ask for a 'make your own tea' book for Christmas and next year I'll look at planting more that I can harvest for tea.

ReplyDeleteI can get these wooden boxes of tea at the dollar store. They're really cheaply made so they don't make the most beautiful items, but a few years ago I hot glued a bunch together and painted them with a neat design to make a desk organizer. It holds some little notebooks, scissors, utility knives, glue sticks, paper flags, and a whole bunch of other random stuff. The best part is the occasional whiff of Earl Grey when I take something out. Since it's been a few years, though, the scent isn't as strong. Maybe I should make a new organizer. {:
